Area Information
The village of Aroni: Aroni is a traditional village located on the Akrotiri peninsula, offering magnificent views to Souda Bay and the White Mountains. There are mini-markets, bakeries, shops, restaurants, pharmacy and other stores available in Aroni. The village is only a 15min drive to Chania and just 5kms to the international airport. A wider range of amenities are available in Kounoupidiana, within a 2km range from the village. A lot of locals choose to live in Aroni, due to its proximity to all amenities and schools. Beautiful and natural sandy beaches (Marathi, Loutraki, Kalathas, Tersanas, Stavros) are easily accessible from the village by main road.
The area of Akrotiri: The Akrotiri Peninsula features some of the most beautiful and clean sandy beaches of Chania offering water sports activities, including well-known Stavros beach where Zorbas the Greek was filmed, Kalathas and Tersanas. Kalathas beach is a beautiful sandy beach lined with pine trees in the south and a small islet at swimming distance and features cafes and traditional tavernas.
